ON GOING ADDITIONS
During the course of its life, 1936 to 1954, the shape of the Spitfire changed so dramatically that the last model (Mk 24) bore no relationship to the first model (Mk 1).
The genesis of the photographs in this gallery was an idea to draw an illustrated book or two in my retirement, with accurate drawings and aimed mainly at the modelling fraternity, the anatomy of the Spitfire from its first to last mark.
For the last few years I have been avidly photographing whole Spitfires and bits of Spitfires and building up a substantial archive of reference images to accurately illustrate the differences between the various marks.
Rather than just having the images stored on my hard drive and on CDs I have decided to share a few of them and develop a gallery showing the development of the aircraft.
After much thought I will display each of them as individual aircraft rather than by mark, in individual collections, with a selection of photographs taken over the years as and when I came upon that particular aircraft.
The majority of photographs are in digital format but some will be scanned from 35mm negatives so the quality of these will be a bit degraded but suitable enough to do drawings from.

The majority of photographs are taken on a Minolta Dimage Z1 3.2 Mega Pixels with 10x optical Zoom.
